5 Ways to Optimize Your Gaming Experience
Most gamers have a list of to-dos that would enhance their gaming experience. I mean, from fast
internet to a comfortable ergonomic chair, there’s a never-ending list. However, what if I tell you
that even a basic thing like upgrading your drivers occasionally can improve your gaming
experience?
To know how you can optimize your gaming experience without investing too much time and
money, stick with me as I’m just getting started:
1. Invest in a Quality Internet Connection and VPN:
Your internet connection should be fast enough to support all online games you play. Without it, the
game may lag, take more time to connect to the server, or may not even run. And even if you want
to play against someone in the next room, it may not be possible on a spotty internet connection. In
short, investing in a good internet is a must if you want to enjoy gaming.
I found a budget-friendly cable internet last year. For gaming, I chose Ethernet connection because
of its reliable speeds and excessive bandwidth, less lag and packet loss while gaming.
Plus, there are times when speedy game servers are not accessible because of geo-restrictions. Or,
we might not be able to play some games because of their unavailability in our country. In these
situations, a quality VPN can help you surpass the geo-restrictions and provide access to exclusive
gaming content worldwide.
2. A Comfortable Gaming Setup:
A large part of our gaming experience depends on our gaming setup. For instance, quality
headphones are essential to listen to the crawls or footsteps of your opponents in game. Similarly, a
sluggish mouse may not let you aim properly to take down your opponents.
However, creating the best gaming ecosystem can be expensive for some people. And I wouldn’t
advise you to spend a lot on gaming equipment unless you have saved for it or want to start as a
professional gamer.
My advice is to buy used gaming equipment rather than invest in brand-new equipment. But,
do ensure the used equipment does not have faults. And the person you’re buying from is
trustworthy. Also, if you’ve joined gaming communities (which I’ll talk about later), you may easily
get the gaming equipment at a cheaper price.
3. Optimize Your System’s Settings:
Some gamers may try to run games on high or ultra-settings. And they may not be aware if their
system actually supports those game settings.
If you have a high-end gaming system, then it may run most games in high resolution with the best
refresh rate. However, if that’s not the case, then the game may actually lag, shut down in the
middle, or may not run at all.
It’s best if you read game specifications and compare them with your system before running it. This
will help you determine how well those games would run on your system on high settings. Also, if
your system does not support the mentioned specifications, there is no harm in decreasing the
resolution’s quality and refresh rate. It may downgrade the game’s graphics a bit, but it’s better than
not playing the game at all.
4. Keep Your Drivers Updated:
Sometimes, our gaming systems are perfectly capable of running a game. But they don’t because we
don’t update our system’s drivers. Just like software updates on our smartphones, the drivers also
need frequent updates to work efficiently. These updates are vital and may contain important bug
fixes and make the system efficient.
5. Be a Part of Gaming Communities:
As I mentioned earlier, you can find handy gaming equipment in gaming communities. However,
there’s more you can do after joining a gaming forum, page, or community. Gamers like yourself can
share your own tips, tricks, and reviews about different games that other users can read about.
While tips and tricks can assist in figuring out how to complete different, brain-clustering missions,
valuable reviews may help you determine if a game’s worth buying or not.
Bonus Suggestion: Don’t Forget to Take Some Time Off:
Yes, it’s hard for us gamers to stay away from our aesthetically pleasing gaming setups. We want to
spend time playing games as much as possible, but it’s best if we take some time off gaming. It’s
because gaming’s purpose is never to disconnect us from the real world or abandon our family and
friends.
So, take frequent breaks and socialize with people outside the gaming world. Also, I’ve noticed that
my gameplay becomes more efficient after breaks. And if you try this, do let me know in the
comments section if it just happens to me or works for you as well.
