Best Escape From Tarkov Items to Get After a Wipe
Escape from Tarkov is a brutal game. Whether you’re a newcomer or a veteran, you’re going
to need to get used to dying otherwise you’re not going to have a great time. But beyond
being a setback, deaths in Escape From Tarkov are an opportunity to start afresh and build
back stronger. Especially when those deaths come from a server wipe—moving the entire
server back to square one.
When rebuilding from scratch, certain items become worth their weight in gold. This guide
will walk you through exactly which items you want to keep your eyes out for immediately
after a server wipe.
Laboratory Access Cards: The Ultimate Prize
If you respawn with a laboratory access card, you’ve hit the jackpot. These remain one of
EFT’s most prized possessions when obtained immediately after a wipe—even though it
may not seem like that immediately.
Conventional knowledge would tell you that the most valuable tools would be ones you could
use right now—but this is an instance where that isn’t the case. While the Laboratory Access
Cards cannot be used in the early game, they are essential for accessing the Laboratory
map later on; which is one of the highest risk and highest reward locations in the game.
Smart players stockpile these keycards early in order to get maximum access to the
lab—making them worth a pretty penny on the Flea Market when
Quest Items: The Ticket to Progression
Quests are one of the most reliable ways to obtain items and currency in EFT, so getting
your hands on quest items from the get-go can give you a real head start. Two of the best
quest items to start with are:
- Gas Analyzers – Used for multiple early Therapist quests, these devices can be a
nightmare to find in the field as thousands of players simultaneously rush to get their
hands on them. Starting with one puts you ahead of the competition. Tech stores on
Interchange and the drop-down room in Reserve and the primary hunting grounds to
find these. - Flash Drives – Needed for both Skier and Jaeger quests, these are great for getting
you ahead. Look out for PC front ports and office areas—every player needs four.
Keys: Opening Doors
Gaining access to new areas is obviously a game changer. These are some of the most
important keys to get your hands on in the early game:
- Marked Room Keys – Despite being nerfed a couple of times, these remain some of
the most valuable items to grab early wipe. The customs marked room key (RB-BK) and its Reserve counterparts can give you access to weapons cases, tools and other
items to give you a kickstart. - ULTRA Medical Storage Key – The ULTRA medical Storage room often spawns
LEDX devices, defibrillators and other incredibly useful and valuable items needed
for hideout upgrades and quests.
Graphics Cards: The Hideout Essential
Graphics cards are incredibly important EFT items—making them even more valuable during
the early wipe economy. This is because they’re essential for creating Bitcoin Farm in your
hideout. But they’re also needed for a crucial Mechanic quest.
Just after a wipe, players will rush tech stores and PC rooms searching for these, as even if
they are not going to use them themselves, they can be sold for millions on the Flea Market.
Survival Tools: The Early Game Necessities
Obviously, useful items go beyond quest items and keys—you’re also going to need things
to keep you alive. These are two of the best to grab right after a wipe:
- Military Power Filters – These are required to construct hideout air filtering
units—making them become exponentially more valuable as players develop their
hideouts. Grabbing one of these early on can save you a hefty sum down the line—or
net you a pretty penny. - Military Batteries – Another hideout bottleneck item, these are used for solar power
installations, which are an incredibly worthwhile upgrade. Using these or selling them
will net you big bucks in the long run.
Weapons and Armor: The Early Wipe Meta
Alright, this is probably what you’ve been waiting for—what guns and gear to grab as soon
as you spawn into a wipe. Well, you may be surprised to hear that this category is one of the
least important for the simple reason that building your base and unlocking closed-off areas
will give you a much greater boost provided you can survive. But that’s not to say there isn’t
gear to look out for. Keep your eyes peeled for:
- SCAR-L and G36 Parts – These are two of the most reliable and sought-after guns
in the game, making their parts worth a pretty penny on the flea market. - Class 4 Armored Rigs – The TV-110 and AVS rigs are hot commodities as players
scramble to gather cost-effective protection. They can be useful for yourself, or to sell
on the flea market.
Making the Most of Early Wipe Opportunities
While gathering items and getting lucky is a huge part of early wipe gameplay, it’s paramount
not only to understand what items are valuable, but when to sell them. Generally speaking,
quest items should be kept, while pure value items can be sold to fund your raids.
The key to early wipe gameplay, though, is to gather, plan and act quickly. With this checklist
of high value items, you should be able to make waves after your next wipe.
