Star Citizen 4.0 Guide to Contested Zones

Contested Zones are dynamic areas in the Pyro system that combine PvP and PvE elements,
giving players opportunities for high risk, and high rewards in Star Citizen’s Alpha 4.0. These
places, which are located in Pyro space stations, give players the opportunity to engage in
combat and receive special rewards and loot.
Your experience during this adventure can be greatly impacted by how well you manage your
Star Citizen aUEC, whether you’re upgrading your ship or gathering supplies. In this guide,
we will uncover everything you need to know about Contested Zones.

Location and Accessibility of Contested Zones

Contested Zones can be found in the Pyro system, close to abandoned industrial areas,
asteroid fields, or abandoned stations. These are Ruin Station, Orbituary and Checkmate.
Each of these stations has its designated Contested Zones where you can find enormous loot,
weaponry, high-grade chip components and quest items.

Other important locations

There are other important locations which are very essential for you to go to in order to
complete your objective. These locations are, Executive X Hangar and Supervisor Pyro03-
L5. At Pyro03-L5, Players can get keycards known as supervisor keycards which they can
use to open the deeper parts of the Contested Zones.

The Executive Hangar is the place which is closer to the star in the Pyro system and it’s also
the end location of the objective.

Mechanics of Contested Zones in Star Citizen 4.0

Doors
In order to find out the deeper parts of the Contested Zones, you’ll have to access 3 door
types which have their own ways of unlocking.

Fuse Doors
These doors are unlocked by using fuses. After putting in the fuse, the door will open for 30
seconds and so and close on its own. The fuses for this can be bought from specific outposts,
can be crafted or can be found in Contested Zones.

Security Doors
These are also known as Blue doors. These doors require a keycard in order to open, all you
have to do is find a keycard printer in the Contested Zone (probably in the deeper sections),
print the subsequent card and use it on the door to open it.

Supervisor Doors
There are only 2 of these doors in the game with one present in Checkmate station and the
other in Obituary station. Both these doors are opened with the help of Supervisor keycards
and those are difficult to find. You have to break inside the Pyro 3 L4 and L5, find a
supervisor keycard printer and then print the card and use it to open the doors.

You need to be careful here as other players are also present in these locations and you can be
ambushed very easily here. The reward chambers in Contested Zones may be the only places
to find specific ship components (military, stealth, or competition). PvP and PvE combat are
dynamically mixed in Contested Zones. Below is a summary of the primary activities.

Star Citizen 4.0 Guide to Contested Zones

The Combat In Contested Zones:

You have to deal with, NPC Factions which are coordinated AI enemies protecting important
assets. And Other Players with whom every interaction becomes a potential conflict as rival
players try to take advantage of rewards for themselves. Multi-layered combat in enclosed
spaces, on foot, and over space are common in these Zones.

The Looting in Contested Zones:

Rewards in Contested Zones consist of top-quality equipment, uncommon resources, and currency.

Ruin Station

This station has its own unique mechanics of doors, with their own requirements. Once you
enter the primary area, you’ll find 4 doors there, each marked with different symbols, like the
Blue symbol for the wasteland, the Yellow symbol for The last stand and the Green symbol
for the crypt. There are also fuse-based doors that can be opened with fuses, once inside
you’ll find key card printers where these printers will give you a key matching the door
symbol. The fourth door is called the treasure vault. Now when you’re inside this door, you’ll
find 3 doors with symbols which match the symbols of the keys you got from earlier. Use
them to open these doors.

Helpful tips

The unique Comp boards for the objective are found like this:

  • 3 Comp Boards in Checkmate.
  • 2 Comp Boards in Ruin Station
  • 2 Comp Boards in Obituary.

The End

Once you have all the Comp Board, go to the Executive Hangar. You have to enter an
Asteroid Outpost there and find the EVA area. Each outpost has 5 lights, and they’re
supposed to be blue, if one of them is red then the outpost is offline. Each Red light will turn
green in approx. 2 hours and the outpost will be active. Once active, insert all the Comp
Boards into their respective pipes. Once it’s done, The main door will open in the EVA room,
it’s timed which means the green light will again start to turn red. This will give you
approximately 1 hour, to go further and claim your new ship and loot.

Conclusion

Contested Zones, which include PvP and PvE components, completely reimagine the
multiplayer experience. These zones provide unmatched opportunities whether you're looking
for the excitement of battle, the fulfilment of finishing difficult quests, or the lure of rare loot.
